Iron ore pellets are thermally agglomerated substance<\/strong> formed by heating a variable mixture of beneficiated or run-of-mine iron ore fines, limestone, olivine, bentonite, dolomite, and miscellaneous iron-bearing materials in the range of 1250 \u00b0C to1350 \u00b0C<\/p>\n

Iron ore pellets are normally produced in two types of grades –<\/p>\n

\n
• BF (Blast Fumace) grade<\/strong> fluxed iron ore pellets are used mainly in blast furnaces for steel production<\/li>\n
• DRI (Direct Reduced Iron) grade<\/strong> sponge iron pellets are mainly used in the preparation of DRI, which is used in steel production through electric arc furnaces<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Owing to the COVID Pandemic, worldwide demand for Pellets fell by approx. 3.5% to 469 MTPA in 2021. Thereafter, demand is forecasted to grow at a CAGR of 5% p.a. by volume, from 490 MTPA in 2022 to 924 MTPA by 2035.<\/p>\n

  In an effort to decarbonize the steelmaking process, there is an increased emphasis on the technological shift from BF-BOF Route to EAF Route, which utilizes Pellets and Scrap Steel in the steelmaking process.
