Essar Minmet believes in running operations in such a manner that maximum efficiencies are achieved with minimal impact on the society and environment. Through innovation, tech-enabled processes and operations sensitised to the surroundings, Essar Minmet plans to set up assets that would be natural, sustainable and community-driven.
The Beneficiation Plant location ensures minimum surface transportation of fines. During day-to-day operations, this will reduce noise, dust, road congestion and inconveniences to the community. Its proximity to the Paradip port will ensure that maritime transportation is used, thereby considerably reducing carbon footprint.
Each process in the Essar Minmet facility has undergone thorough planning to ensure that dust and emissions impact is at its lowest on the air we breathe. The facility will use the Wet Grinding process to convert iron ore to slurry, thereby considerably reducing dust. Natural Gas will be used instead of Furnace Oil in the Induration furnace in Pellet Plant, leading to reduction in CO2 and noxious SOx emissions. Furthermore, the Pellet Plant main stack connection with Induration furnace will have advanced process gas cleaning system to reduce flue gas emissions.
Both the Beneficiation and Pellet Plants will operate under our zero water discharge principal. The return water pipeline we plan to construct will recover the water used in transportation, thereby going a long way in conservation of water.
Further, there are plans to leverage Solar Energy for the plant, and an MoU with Essar Power Ltd. is in the works to source electricity from their planned 95 MW solar power plant in Odisha.
Also, we believe that every effort to conserve power leads to a greener future. All our drives will be VFD connected, and LED lightings used in the Plant will aim to conserve as much power as possible.
Essar has always remained a community-centric organisation, with many of its initiatives reaching out to remote corners of India. The project will leverage Essar’s CSR experience through structured and focused processes towards community development in and around the site area. The project is poised to bring direct & indirect gainful employment within the community, and will foster auxiliary business activities, thereby helping boost the local economy.
Essar is known to maintain and value investor’s confidence, and work towards the benefit of all stakeholders. The company maintains a robust Governance policy, with industry veterans in its leadership team.
