    • Connects beneficiation plant in Keonjhar to pellet plant in Paradip
    • Project has Right of Way (RoW) to lay the pipeline alongside of Highways from National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) as well as from Odisha State Authorities for State highways and PWD roads.
    • Declared as a National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) project under the Ministry of Steel, Government of India
    • Includes return water pipe to minimize the make-up water requirement for slurry pumping.

 

Essar has in the past built India’s first cross-country slurry pipeline which passed through difficult terrain of three states carrying the iron ore slurry, and has vast experience of the entire value chain.

Slurry pipelines are the most eco-friendly mode of inland transportation of iron-ore concentrate, compared to traditional logistics comprising road or rail, as follows:-

  • Iron Ore is converted into a slurry, thereby eliminating the impact of dust pollution
  • Minimizes carbon emissions and other noxious exhaust incurred as part of road/rail transportation

 

Additionally, Essar Minmet has envisioned the Project on a zero-water discharge principle. The slurry pipeline would be accompanied by a return water pipeline, which would pump the excess water obtained at the Pellet Plant post-removal of water from the incoming slurry, back to the Beneficiation Plant for utilization in the Beneficiation Process and slurry transportation. This cycle would significantly contribute towards water conservation for the region.
